graniph x (Onra + Ricky Powell) = Don’t Ask For Janice

I’m a bit slow off the mark here  but graniph are quite the grand tee-shirt company. Fan-boying it up for the Onra album, I found the graniph Sydney store and copped this

And a bit of this

For $70. And that price is alright with me. Thick cotton, fitted and sensible sizing. There’s more in the Ricky Powell series (including a nice Rev Run Eiffel Tower jobee) and another Beastie Boys one. If you don’t know who Ricky Powell is, then you probably shouldn’t be on this blog.

Onra: Old Skool, New Skool, RnB or Hip-Hop?

French producer Onra joins Flying Lotus for me this year in the category of ‘Beat guys who want to make the world a better place.’ His record ‘Long Distance’ (All City) is a beautiful slice of summery soul with 80s influence, not unlike 90s Hip Hop, yet still looks to the future with more optimism than chin-stroke.

My review at the wonderful soundnotseen blog sums it up a lot better.

Actually, my interview with Onra sums it up even better than that.

Buy the album

And while you’re in the spending mood, grab yourself a tee shirt, too.

If you’re in Sydney, get to graniph Sydney

And if you’re still feeling saucy, buy up on those Ricky Powell Tee shirts or throw in the towel before your girlfriend gets dicked.
